Supply Chain ESG Manager Remote

The Supply Chain ESG Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and communicating Advocate Health's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) supply chain business plan and strategy.
This role will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to implement programs and processes aimed at collecting, monitoring, and reducing the organization's Scope 3 (upstream) emissions, resulting from the supply chain.
The role will lead the development of the supply chain ESG and sustainability strategy that ensures that business practices, products, and services align with the system's social and environmental goals and targets of Advocate Health.
In doing so, the individual will promote a supply chain ESG and sustainability philosophy to internal and external stakeholders.
The role manages both the development of strategic direction, as well as the tactical implementation of the plan.
Remote role with very occasional travel.
Major
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the supply chain ESG strategic plan with a focus on environmental sustainability and meeting established enterprise goals around chemicals, waste, and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and carbon neutrality/net zero targets in addition to other environmental and social impact goals.
Strengthen Advocate Health's role as an ESG leader through subject matter expertise, passion and thought leadership.
Garner support on ESG opportunities across the enterprise and with external stakeholders.
Provide subject matter expertise and content for training materials to educate internal teams around sustainable claims verification, marketing, best practices, insights and peer benchmarking findings.
Work closely with supply chain contracting and sourcing teams on ESG and sustainability considerations for the contracting process and sustainable procurement practices.
Ensure sustainability factors are considered during category sourcing.
Use expert-knowledge of ESG and sustainability concepts and engagement strategies to develop a robust supplier engagement strategy focused on education and improvement.
Engage Advocate Health's suppliers to collaborate on ESG opportunities and understand their sustainability targets, goals, and activities.
Develop improvement plans with suppliers and strategies for ongoing engagement Collaborate with other leaders and internal stakeholders to implement processes that reduce the organization's carbon footprint.
Lead though collaboration and influence to gain support from others to promote and advance the goals of the supply chain in reducing Scope 3 emissions, waste, chemicals of concern, while improving resource conservation and reprocessing of single use devices.
Lead the annual data collection and aggregation of Advocate Health's supplier reported GHG emissions and other key environmental metrics (i.
e.
, sustainability plan, public reporting, etc).
This includes maintaining a robust ESG data collection tool that aligns with other supply chain/enterprise systems and tools.
Review, analyze, and audit supplier-reported data collected through annual ESG assessments.
Collaborate with others in supply chain and the enterprise to consolidate data for cohesive and complete ESG reporting.
Represent Advocate Health as a thought-leader in various ESG industry groups, board meetings and other key events advocating for environmental sustainability and healthier, safer products in the healthcare sector and bringing key parties together to advance knowledge and progress.
Promote and explain the organization's sustainability philosophy to internal and external audiences.
Actively communicate and educate stakeholders (internal and external) on ESG program and progress Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree required or 5 years of direct relevant work experience in environmental sustainability will be considered in lieu of a degree 5
years' experience in ESG and sustainability, supply chain or product sustainability.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Experience in GHG accounting in alignment with the GHG protocol and demonstrated ability managing product environmental or corporate responsibility-related programs for sustainable products strongly preferred.
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to lead matrix project teams of peers and other partners (internal and external) in a dynamic environment.
Superior analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills required.
Proven ability to work creatively and analytically to deliver results.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a solutions-oriented mindset.
Advanced MS Excel skills that can be used to combine and analyze data from various source and generate reports and graphics to help drive decision-making.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-oriented environment.
Exceedingly strong communication skills, presentation skills required.
