This senior IT leader is responsible for setting the vision, developing the strategy and leading IT initiatives and operations supporting DeVry's 125,000 students, 9 institutions and 11,000 colleagues worldwide at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Becker Professional Education, Carrington College, Carrington College California, Chamberlain College of Nursing, DeVry Brasil, DeVry University, Ross University School of Medicine and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
This dynamic leader will forge strong partnerships and collaborative relationships with institutional and functional leadership. The role will challenge the status quo and be heavily involved in the selection, deployment and support of new processes and tools used to help our students achieve their educational and career goals. This role reports directly to the SVP & CIO of DeVry Education Group.
Core leadership related duties and
Responsibilities:
Enhance the lives of our students and colleagues through IT services.
Develop IT talent to meet the current and future needs of the organization.
Partner with the CIO and with other senior leadership positions to establish and communicate a clear and compelling technology vision and roadmap.
Develop measurement and metrics to quantify progress against vision and roadmaps.
Represent DeVry with key technology vendors and industry groups.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology trends and products; identify opportunities for new initiatives and integration of new technologies into the curriculum.
Align technology initiatives and operations with the priorities of the DeVry Group.
Sustain professional knowledge of technologies in higher education through vendor meetings, training, reading and attending conferences.
Work with cross functional teams to negotiate purchase and service agreements and maintain vendor relationships.
Work with Talent Acquisition to recruit new colleagues.
Manage annual budgets, taking into account the requirements from various functional, institutional and IT long-range strategic plan.
Supervise leadership and staff.
Conduct regular performance appraisals and handle employee disciplinary issues.
Assure that all technologies are implemented and managed in compliance with technology policies and procedures set forth by DeVry Group strategy and policies.
Security related duties and
Responsibilities:
Lead team responsible for detecting, neutralizing, and preventing threats to DeVry Group information assets.
Leverage a wide range of security technologies including, but not limited to: SEIM, IDS/IPS, HIDS, malware analysis and protection, content filtering, logical access controls, identity and access management, data loss prevention, content filtering technologies, application firewalls, vulnerability scanners, LDAP, and physical security systems.
Chair DeVry Education Group IT Information Security and Risk steering committee.
Formulate security recommendations and manage the implementation of security initiatives.
Leader responsible for ensuring proper security controls are implemented across technology initiatives.
Coordinate responses to external audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments.
Implement security best practices in the areas of applications, infrastructure, desktops, mobile devices and virtual environments.
Oversee 3rd party managed security service providers.
Initiate security awareness and training for IT and non-IT personnel.
A demonstrated strategic thinker, leader, visionary, influencer, consultant and change agent.
Knowledge of best practices for and extensive experience utilizing mobile, portal, data analytics and integration technologies.
Excellent communication skills and ability to be diplomatic and highly responsive in all interpersonal interactions.
Ability to work effectively in areas of ambiguity and capable of creating solutions to complex problems.
Master's degree in a related field preferred (years of experience will be considered)
Substantial supervisory/management experiences, or equivalent professional experience in information and instructional technology.
